Railways' economic condition to be improved within 120 days: Sheikh Rashid

LAHORE (92 News) – Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad said on Sunday that economic condition of Pakistan Railways will be improved within 120 days, through effective and concrete measures. Speaking to the journalists at Lahore Railway Station, Sheikh Rashid said that he gave the deadline of one hundred and twenty days to the employees of Pakistan Railways for improving the condition of the railway. The minister claimed that he will settle all the matters of railway till December 20 and the deficit will also be reduced in this year. He said that he introduced the online ticket booking system before ten years and he will also provide facilities for online ticketing. Sheikh Rasheed said no decision has been taken to raise railway fares. To a question, he said facility of Online ticketing will be further extended and improved. He said more attention will be given to target railway freight business. He said elevators will be installed at major stations. The minister said that the officers of Pakistan Railways will work one hour more than normal closing time, however lower staff will observe the normal closing time. The minister said a separate standard gauge line will be laid for CPEC related projects , rather than using the broad-guage line. The federal minister said that love with railway same like love with Pakistan, saying that the railway will be extended towards Iran and Turkey. He said that the Pakistan Railway developed like the modern or developed countries. Shiekh Rashid further expressed his desire to construct the residential plazas for the railway employees. He announced about Saturday has no leave for employees of Railway head office. He also claimed that the facilities will be provided to the handicapped and old aged people by the Pakistan Railway.
