Rain hits Karachi on third consecutive day

KARACHI (92 News) - The rain lashed Karachi for the third consecutive day on Tuesday morning. According to the reports, multiple areas such as Defence, Saddar, II Chundrigar Road, North Nazimabad, Naagin Chowrangi, New Karachi, Surjani Town, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulshan-e-Maymar and Orangi witnessed light rain. The shower turned the weather pleasant as cool winds blew in the city. This is the third spell of monsoon rains in the metropolis. However, according to residents, the rains have now become a menace for them. Earlier on Monday, four people were killed and two others were injured in different incidents during the heavy rain in the city. Two each people were killed due to roof collapse and electrocution. Roads and streets gave a pond-like look in North Nazimabad, Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan Iqbal, Gulbihar, Golimar and Baldia. Several vehicles were washed away in the rainwater. A truck of K-Electric was also submerged the rainwater. Water from Gujjar Nullah inundated the nearby residential area. In Orangi Town, several feet water accumulated in different areas. Volunteers rescued female students of a seminar through boats. People said that the government had not helped them despite the destruction caused by the rain. Traffic flow on all roads was badly affected due to rainwater. Severe logjam was witnessed near Ayesha Manzil. Several vehicles went out of order during the rain, while several others were stuck after their petrol ran out. Soon after the rain, power supply to different areas, including Orangi Town, Baldia, Saeedabad, North Nazimabad, Sarjani Road, New Karachi, SITE, Liaquatabad, Kathore and Gulshan-e-Muamar was suspended.
