KARACHI (92 News) – The moon of Ramazan 1440 has not been sighted across Pakistan and the first Ramazan will be on Tuesday. Arrangements have been finalized for Taraweeh in mosques across the country. On the other hand, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Ch said that the country would get rid of unnecessary expenditures if a 10-year calendar is formed. “It is not wisdom to spend Rs 3.6-4 million on moon-sighting,” he said. He said that there should be no payment for moon-sighting. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee had held a meeting on Sunday to sight moon of Ramazan 2019. The meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee held in Karachi this evening at the Pakistan Meteorological Department building to decide the sighting of the crescent of Ramazanul Mubarak 1440 Hijri or otherwise Mufti Munibur Rehman chaired the meeting in Karachi, said an official of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony. The meeting of Zonal District Ruet-e-Hilal committee also held this evening in their respective areas for collecting evidences in respect of sighting of moon. Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Munibur Rehman announced the decision that the moon of Ramazan 1440 has not been sighted across the country and the first Ramadan will be on Tuesday on the basis of information received.
Moon not sighted in Saudi Arabia, 1st Ramazan on Monday
The Ramzan moon was not sighted in Saudi Arabia on Saturday evening, hence the first of the holy month will be observed in the country.
The Saudi Supreme Court had asked the people to see the Ramazan for two days, but it could not be sighted till Saturday evening.
Ramzan will also begin in the UAE and other Gulf states on May 6. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet on Sunday evening for moon sighting of Ramzanul Mubarak. The moon sighting body will meet after Maghrib prayers at Met Office Complex in Karachi. Mufti Muneebur Rehman, chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, will preside over the meeting. Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will meet in Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar, while the district bodies will meet at their respective headquarters. The weather department earlier stated that the moon of Ramazan will not likely to be sighted on the evening of May 5.
