Rana Shamim's affidavit has no legal status, says Aitzaz Ahsan

LAHORE (92 News) – PPP leader Aitzaz Ahsan has said that the affidavit given by Gilgit-Baltistan former chief justice Rana Shamim has no legal status.

Expressing his views in 92 News Programme 'Hard Talk' on Monday, he said that the affidavit had no legal status unless it is presented in court.

He said that Rana Shamim had held meetings with Nawaz Sharif in London and the affidavit also came from London.

"Can a chief justice ask the registrar to convey his message to the High Court chief justice not to grant bail? Former CJ Saqib Nisar may have several faults, but he cannot be so foolish," he added.

Aitzaz Ahsan said that the PML-N would have sent the affidavit to court through its lawyers had it wanted to make it important. "It will have no legal aspect unless Maryam Nawaz submits it to court," he maintained.
