KARACHI (92 News) – The Paramilitary Rangers and police on Tuesday launched a joint operation at the mobile market near Sakhi Hassan area of Karachi. Large contingents of rangers and police have been deployed at the roads leading to the market. Police officers including SHO Taimuriya police station were also present at the place. The sources said that the joint operation being conducted on intelligence reports. There were reports of sale of stolen and snatched mobile devices in the market, sources said. It is the first instance that the law enforcement agencies have launched an operation in a mobile phones’ market in Karachi. The Rangers, Police with the assistance of intelligence agencies, on the orders of the government, launched a law enforcement operation in Karachi in September 2013, to curb rampant crimes in the port city. The law enforcement agencies launched a crackdown against incidents of terrorism, targeted killings, extortion, kidnapping for ransom and other crimes in Karachi. The Karachi operation gave tangible results creating a semblance of peace in the chaotic city.
Sindh Rangers seize huge cache of arms
On Last December, the Sindh Rangers on Tuesday seized a huge cache of arms from a house situated at Azizabad area of Karachi on the information of two arrested members of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement- South Africa network. According to the Ranger’s spokesperson, the paramilitary agency personnel conducted a raid at a house in Azizabad, Federal B Area, pointed out by the two accused, and recovered large quantity of arms and munitions The spokesman informed that 195 rifle grenades, 98 40mm grenades, 52 hand-grenades, 13 illuminate grenades, 90 Avan bombs, 11 RPG7 rockets, 17 kilo plastic explosives, two RPGs, one grenade launcher, 2MP5 six MG, five LMGs, one HMG and two snipers were among the captured munitions. Moreover, four SMGs, a 222 war rifle, a double two bore rifle, six 7mm rifles, two G3 rifles, two pistols and four SMG grenade launchers and other arms also recovered.
