Rawalpindi Ring Road scandal, key points of investigation report surfaced

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The key points of the investigation report in the Rawalpindi Ring Road scandal have been surfaced. The report proved that the alignment of the ring road was changed and it was an illegal award.

Approval to change the alignment was not taken from the provincial Planning & Development Board (P&DB). The scandal's initial report gives clean chit to the political personalities. The preliminary investigation report does not mention the involvement of any cabinet member.

Meanwhile, Anti-corruption DG Gohar Nafees called on Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan. During the meeting, the anti-corruption DG presented the preliminary inquiry report of Rawalpindi Ring Road scandal to the prime minister.

According to sources, the Ring Road scandal report will be made public soon. The meeting took place at the Prime Minister's Office yesterday. Accountability Adviser Shehzad Akbar was also present in the meeting.

On the other hand, the Punjab anti-corruption, conducting an operation in Lahore, has arrested the main accused in the Ring Road case, former commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (retd) Muhammad Mehmood. The sources also said that the former commissioner of Rawalpindi has a main role in the ring road fraud. Muhammad Mehmood has been arrested on the basis of solid evidence.

Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the case of housing societies involved in Ring Road project has been handed over to the NAB and the action has been initiated against both the officers.
