ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani will chair senate meeting today (Monday) as government has addressed his reservations.

The house will discuss important national issues, besides transacting legislative business.

Earlier on Friday, senate chairman Raza Rabbani had stopped working and even threatened to resign due to frustration and disappointment over the continued absence and lack of interest shown by fellow legislators in parliamentary proceedings.

Postponing the session for an indefinite period, Rabbani had said that he was unable to maintain the integrity and constitutional position of the House, and would leave the decision up to the members regarding his resignation.

In protest, he had also returned the vehicle and official protocol as chairman of the Upper House.

Raza Rabbani said the government does not want to accept Senate’s constitutional status. “If the government has any issue with me, I am ready to resign, but mockery of the Senate is intolerable,” he was quoted as saying.
