LAHORE (92 News) – Federal Minister for Railways, Sheikh Rasheed on Friday said that the government is ready to give the face-saving opportunity to “Azadi March” over the directives of the Supreme Court (SC).
While addressing a press conference at Railways headquarter in Lahore, the railways minister said that the permission for
Azadi March will be given on condition if the SC issues the orders for it.
“We are ready to give the face-saving opportunity to Azadi March over the directives of the top court and its orders will be respected. However, the law will make its way if the SC’s directions were violated,” Shiekh Rasheed warned.
PM to complete his five-year tenure
Sheikh Rasheed predicted that PM Imran Khan will complete his five-year tenure and the country will achieve its prosperity and development targets under his leadership.
“Maulana Fazlur Rehman is departing for Islamabad to create anarchy. The JUI-F chief is marching for Islamabad not for Islam,” the minister said. He also said that if PM Khan gives NRO to them, all the marches will be ended. “I asked Imran Khan to let them go to foreign country. Zardari’s health condition is worse than Nawaz Sharif,” he added.
“All senior politicians, including me, have reached the age of 70, so there should be no politics on illness,” he maintained.
On the other hand, formal talks between the government and the
opposition on the issue of ‘Azadi March’ are set to begin today.
The government negotiating team headed by Defence Minister Pervez Khattak would hold talks with the 11-member Rehbar Committee having representation of all major opposition parties at the residence of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) leader Akram Khan Durrani.
Khattak, Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and acting President Sadiq Sanjrani on Thursday formally contacted the opposition leaders seeking an appointment.
JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman hinted that despite the talks between the joint opposition’s Rahbar Committee and the government’s negotiating team on Friday, his party was unlikely to roll back its plan to stage its ‘Azadi march’ on October 31.
