ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan Navy’s Rear Admiral Ahmed Saeed has been promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral with immediate effect On Monday. According to the press release of Pakistan navy spokesperson, Vice Admiral Ahmed Saeed got commission in Pakistan Navy in 1985. The Flag Officer is a graduate of Pakistan Navy War College Lahore, National Defence University Islamabad and has also qualified Senior Naval Command Course from China. The admiral has an illustrious career with vast experience of various command and staff appointments. His major Command appointments include commanding officer Pakistan Navy Submarine and Commander 5th Submarine Squadron. His major staff appointments include Chief Staff Officer to Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST), Director Submarine Operations, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) at Naval Headquarters and Director General Joint Warfare & Training at Joint Services Headquarters, Islamabad. The admiral is currently performing the duties of Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff Project-II at Islamabad. In recognition of his meritorious services, the Admiral was awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military).
Pakistan Navy, Dow University join hands in beach cleaning at Manora
In line with the Government of Pakistan’s vision of ‘Clean and Green Pakistan’, Pakistan Navy in collaboration with Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) conducted ‘Tree Plantation and Beach Cleaning Activity’ at Manora Island.

Commodore Vaqar Muhammad graced the occasion as chief guest.

During his address, the chief guest highlighted the adverse effects of climate change caused by pollution and underscored the importance of clean and green environment in mitigating harmful effects. Highlighting Pakistan Navy’s efforts regarding protection of Coastal as well as Marine ecosystems in the country, he lauded DOW University of Health Sciences for joining hands with Pakistan Navy in this noble cause. He said that this activity is being conducted with the expectation that it would help in educating the masses about the importance of trees in our ecosystem and creating awareness about clean beaches. The chief guest inaugurated the activity by planting a sapling. During the activity, the participants planted more than 1,500 different types of plants. Later during the beach cleaning part, participants collected garbage and used plastic articles/ trash from the beach. Pakistan Navy, besides its role of safeguarding maritime frontiers, pledged its full support in environmental sustainability and conducts beach/ harbour cleaning and tree/mangroves plantations campaigns ranging from Margalla Hills in the North to the coastline in the South, on regular basis.
