ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Special Central Judge Tahir Mahmood cancelled the bail of SECP chairman Zafar Hijazi in the record tampering case on Friday.

The FIA arrested him on the court premises.

His counsel Azad Nafees said that those investigated him had only verbal proofs. “The allegations against his client are baseless,” he said.

He contended that the SECP chairman had tampered with the record without any pressure. “It is strange that two people involved in the record tampering were not included in the investigation,” he said.

The counsel said that Zafar Hijazi is an honest and hardworking official.

The FIA contended that there was no dishonesty in the case. “The case was registered on the basis of evidence after an inquiry,” he maintained.

Meanwhile, SECP chairman Zafar Hijazi was admitted to PIMS, Islamabad. He is suffering from sugar, blood pressure, cardiac and kidney ailments.

Doctors said that Zafar Hijazi had also a kidney transplant in addition to a cyst in his bladder.

They said that Hijazi would undergo ECO and other cardiac tests. Four doctors from different departments would inspect him.
