ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Former chief justice Mian Saqib Nisar has said that recording a citizen's private conversation is illegal and unconstitutional.

Responding to the alleged audio leak, he said that patience and silence should not be considered as his weakness. "I am currently neither the chief justice nor part of any bench. I am a free citizen. Khawaja Tariq Rahim is my friend who asked for a legal opinion which he gave," he added.

He said that what do they want to achieve by recording someone's private conversation. "These people are violating the law and ethics. They cannot hide their wrongdoings by taping the private conversation of others," he maintained.

The former chief justice said that he gives free legal advice to the people at his son's office. "What message are you sending to the young generation by recording someone's private call? Using private calls for blackmail is a serious matter and it is a crime," he added.
