LAHORE (92 News) - Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers’ Association (PVMA) chairman Atif Ikram Sheikh has said that reduction in the ghee prices announced by the government is tantamount to closing their mills. Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Saturday, he said that the ghee supply had reduced due to the steps taken by the government. “The ghee stock in the country is only for 10 days. The people have to stand in queues to get ghee if the supply line broke. Then its restoration will take at least 25 days,” he warned. The PVMA chairman said that they had reduced the ghee price by Rs 18 per kg from July 2014 to February 2015. “We cannot meet the government’s demand of a more cut of Rs 15 per kg in the prices.” About the future strategy, he said that dialogues with the government are going on and they will decide the future strategy after convening a meeting of the general body if the talks fail. The PVMA chairman said that the government will be held responsible if the country faced the ghee crisis.
