Regional peace would remain elusive until Kashmir dispute is resolved: FM

WASHINGTON (92 News) – Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that peace and stability in South Asia would remain elusive until the Kashmir dispute is resolved in accordance with international law and the wishes of the Kashmiri people. The minister stated during the meeting with the leadership of the US Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee at Capitol Hill. Both the sides shared their perspectives on the US-Pakistan bilateral relationship, the situation in South Asia, the Afghan peace process, and recent developments in the Middle East.

US senators admire Pakistan’s role in Afghan peace

FM Qureshi also briefed the Senators on India’s brutal lock-down in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK), and its implications for regional security. The committee members appreciated Pakistan’s role in the Afghan peace process and requested Pakistan’s continued support.

Pakistan’s firm commitment for playing positive role

FM Qureshi has reiterated Pakistan's firm commitment for playing a positive role for peace and stability in the region. Talking to US Senator Lindsey Graham in Washington, he said there is no military solution to the Afghan issue. He apprised the US Senator about Pakistan's efforts for reducing tensions in the region. He also informed the US Senator about his recent visits to Iran, Saudi Arabia. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on Pak-US bilateral issues and situation in the region. On the occasion, Senator Lindsey Graham appreciated Pakistan reconciliatory role for peace and stability in Afghanistan.
