LAHORE (92 News) – IGP Punjab Amjad Javed Saleemi has said that the registration of a fake FIR is a big problem. Speaking in 92 News Program ‘Ho Kaya Raha Hay’, he expressed the resolve to rectify the ‘thana’ culture. He said that the corruption issue is common in police stations. “Corruption will not be tolerated at any costs. Attitudes will have to be rectified in order to rectify the police department,” he declared. The IGP Punjab said that no one can dare to interfere in the work of a police officer if he does his work honestly. “We were not doing policing in a democratic way. We will not allow the dictatorial policing now,” he said. IGP Punjab Amjad Javed Saleemi said that the officers involved in the Model Town tragedy will remain suspended until the court verdict. “Our focus is on to increase capability of the present police. The response to Dolphin police has been good, but their expenditures are very high. A bike was purchased for Rs two million while a vehicle can be purchased through this amount,” he said. He said that the vehicles of patrolling police were old and they should have been purchased first.
