Renowned social figure Abdul Sattar Edhi laid to rest with state honours

KARACHI (92 News) – The renowned social figure, Abdul Sattar Edhi, was laid to rest with full state honours at Edhi Village on Saturday. Floral chaddars were laid on his grave. The national flag flew at half-mast. His 'Soyem' will be held at Memon Masjid, Bolton Market at 9:30am on Sunday. Earlier, his funeral was held at National Stadium. He was also given guns salute and the guard of honour. COAS General Raheel Sharif saluted Abdul Sattar Edhi. Maulana Ahmed Khan Niazi led the funeral. It is the second time in the country's history that a key figure has been given the official protocol. The mobile phone service around the National Stadium remained suspended during the funeral. President Mamnoon Hussain, Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani, Chief Ministers Shahbaz Sharif and Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and Naval Chief Admiral Zakaullah, several federal and provincial ministers and thousands of people from various walks of life participated in the funeral.
