KARACHI (92 News) – Renowned Urdu novelist and playwright Fatima Surayya Bajia passed away in Karachi on Wednesday.

She was born in Hyderabad Deccan on September 1, 1930.

She was awarded various awards at home and abroad, including Japan's highest civil award in recognition of her works. She also remained Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh.

She was a well-known personality in social welfare, literary Radio, TV and Stage. She wrote for PTV Centres Islamabad and Lahore since beginning of the channel. She wrote her first long play “Mehman”.

She contributed for the literary programs like Auraaq, and beauty care programmes under the title Aaraish-e-Khaam-e-Kakal and she also produced some children programs.

Her funeral will be held after Zohr prayers.

Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif have expressed grief over the sad demise of the great literary figure.
