Restrictions in Srinagar to prevent Ashura processions

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – In Indian-held Jammu Kashmir, Indian forces have imposed curfew-like restrictions in Srinagar to prevent people from taking out Ashura processions. Restrictions have been imposed in the areas falling under the jurisdictions of Nowhatta, Khanyar, Safa Kadal, Maharaj Gunj, Kothibagh and Rainawari police stations to prevent the Ashura processions. The authorities have also deployed Indian troops and police personnel in strength in Srinagar and other towns of the occupied territory to stop people from carrying out Muharram processions and anti-India rallies after Juma prayers, today. – Mirwaiz placed house arrest in Srinagar – The authorities have placed the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, under house arrest in Srinagar. A spokesman for the forum in a statement said that Mirwaiz was scheduled to deliver a sermon on the occasion of Ashura and pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala at Alam Sahib in Narwara area of Srinagar. Meanwhile, Indian forces have imposed curfew-like restrictions in Srinagar and other town of occupied territory to prevent people from taking out Ashura processions. Three bodies of Indian policemen were found in Shopian district, on Friday.
