Research in the field of biomedical engineering and artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the face of healthcare across the globe.
Pakistan possesses adequate engineers and innovators in these fields, and they can perform ‘miracles’ only if requisite funds are made available from internal and external investors.
Healthcare robots capable of operating in emergencies, where no medical staff is available, and AI-driven ambulances equipped with advanced medical machinery are some of the innovations that are revolutionising the medical field.
These innovations can help save lives, deliver proper services, and provide healthcare in remote and underprivileged regions.
Currently, countries such as the USA, Germany, and Japan have adopted the advanced AI technologies in the health sector.
Our biomedical engineers can design technologies affordable for the lower and middle-class people in Pakistan through joint programmes of technological advancement with the experts of these countries.
This partnership can create a win-win scenario by building up advanced healthcare structures in Pakistan and giving international companies an opportunity to access new markets.
I would like to appeal to the potential investors and the government to view Pakistan as a valuable asset for this purpose. Together we can do more, create more, change more, and make healthcare for people across the country affordable.
