River Indus, Kabul in medium flood in Punjab; Rojhan flooded, authorities fail to provide rescue

ISLAMABAD/PESHAWAR (92 News) - River Indus at Tarbela and Khairabad, River Kabul at Warsak and Nowshera, River Adezai at Adezai Bridge and River Shah Alam at Takhtabad remained in medium flood on Sunday. As per Flood Warning Center Peshawar, River Panjkora at Dir, River Khiali and River Naguman in Charsadda are in low flood, while rest of the rivers in the province are flowing normal in KPK. While, River Indus is in medium flood at Tarbela, Kalabagh and Chashma and in Low flood at Taunsa. All other rivers and Nullah in Punjab are flowing normally. "A minor damage has been caused to the embankments of Layyah," spokesman of PDMA Punjab said. Also, a flood in Layyah which caused dozens of villages to be inundated. People have lost their livestock and are forced to move. No official help reached for the rescue of the aggrieved. Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) said it is regularly monitoring river position across the province in the wake of the on-going monsoon rains. The authority has asked people living near rivers to exercise caution.
