Road closures begin as JUI-F implements its Plan B

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) started to implement its Plan B of Azadi March on Thursday by blocking major roads across the country. According to details, JUI-F initiated to block highways in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The workers have started to arrive in Nowshera from Mardan, Charsadda and Peshawar. A road has been blocked in Hakimabad, where a large contingent of police is also present. Additionally, JUI-F workers have closed Indus Highway in Bannu. A party worker said cars will only be allowed to pass through in the case of an emergency, adding that the road has been shut indefinitely.
Shahra-e-Resham blocked at Chattar Plain
Close to Mansehra district, Shahra-e-Resham has been blocked at Chattar Plain in KP. Maulana Attaur Rehman is leading the protests. The road is an important trade route that connects Pakistan to China and KP to Gilgit.
JUI-F sit-in ongoing in Jacobabad
The JUI-F dharna is ongoing in Jacobabad for a second day. Participants blocked a national highway at Zero Point. The flow of traffic has been suspended due to the sit-in.
JUI-F at main GT Road in Hakimabad, Nowshera
Chakdara Road in Malakand division has been blocked by protesters. Workers from Chitral, Dir, Swat, Buner and other parts of the Malakand division gathered at Chakdara Chowk to block the main road, causing a large traffic jam. Earlier,  JUI-F Plan B was finalized during a meeting presided over by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday. All the provincial party ameers briefed Maulana Fazlur Rehman about the preparations for the Plan B. The JUI-F will place Rawalpindi and Islamabad on lockdown. JUI-F secretary general Maulana Rashid Soomro said that they will have to end the wait. “The Plan B is the plan to move ahead, not to retreat. We will not go towards the extreme. However, we cannot desist from the resignation,” he said. Meanwhile, National Party leader Mir Hasil Bizanjo called on Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence. They also discussed different matters, including the Azadi March and closure of all main roads. Earlier addressing the participants of Azadi March on Monday, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that their struggle will continue for toppling the ‘illegal’ government. He announced that the Azadi March participants will fight a battle against the government in each city after leaving the federal capital. He said that the toppling of the ‘filthy’ government is the demand of their faith. “The nation will get rid of the illegal and imposed forces,” he said.
