Roads inundated under rainwater resulting massive traffic jams in Karachi

KARACHI (92 News) - After heavy rain in Karachi, several roads and low-lying areas were inundated under rainwater resulting in massive traffic jams which caused inconvenience to the residents.

According to the reports, after many hours of the rain, the rainwater submerged the roads as well as the Liaquatabad and Nazimabad underpasses in the metropolis.

The scorching heat finally come to an end in Karachi as the heavy rain lashed in different parts of Karachi. Clouds fell in Karsaz, KDA Scheme One, Muhammad Ali Society, Bahadurabad and other areas.

Heavy rains lashed Gulshan-e-Hadid, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Karsaz Shahra-e-Faisal, Stadium Road, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Orangi Sarjani, Korangi, Landhi, Saddar, Garden Kharadar and other areas.

In Azizabad Block 2, rainwater accumulated in the houses. The flow of traffic was also affected due to accumulation of water on various highways.

K-Electric maintained the tradition of turning the mercy of rain into trouble. As soon as the rains started, power went out in Lyari, Kharadar, Saddar and Garden areas in Old City Areas. Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Liaqatabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, PIB Colony, Tariq Road, Nazimabad were also plunged into darkness.

A spokesman for Electric said the power supply to some areas had been cut off during the rains as a precautionary measure. He appealed to the citizens to avoid approaching electrical appliances and power poles during rains.

The monsoon rain also caused power failed due to which most of the city plunged into darkness. Restoring electricity continued as power supply to 1610 out of 1900 feeders is being maintained, according to a spokesman for K-Electric.
