Roads, streets giving pond-like look even hours after heavy rain in Karachi
KARACHI (92 News) – A lot of roads and streets are giving the pond-like look even hours after the heavy rain in the metropolis.
The rain has defaced the entire city as heaps of garbage, mud and dirty water could be seen at several places. The entire area of Sohrab Goth submerged in the rainwater.
Thousands of home appliances went out of order after rainwater entered their houses. People were besieged in their houses due to accumulation of rainwater in Nagan Chowrangi, Landhi, Ayesha Manzil, Gulberg and Sarjani Town.
On the other hand, Pak Army teams with the civil administration are busy draining out rainwater from the affected areas. Efforts are also going on to pump out water from the low-lying areas.
Meanwhile, K-Electric has increased the problems of citizens who are without the power supply since the heavy rain in the city. The areas, including Malir, Korangi, Shah Faisal, Drug Road and Sarjani Road, are without electricity for hours.
The 72-inch water supply line burst due to the power breakdown at Dhabiji Pumping Station being run by the Water Board. As a result, citizens are facing is an acute shortage drinking water.
The Met Office has predicted rain/wind-thundershower, with few moderate to isolated heavy falls, in Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Tharparker, Mirpurkhas, Umar Kot, Sanghar, Sukkur, Larkana, Lasbella, Khuzdar, Barkhan, Zhob, Musa Khel, Loralai, Kohlu and Sibbi on Saturday.
