Royal decree issued to release 2,107 Pakistani prisoners from Saudi jails

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – In pursuance of the announcement made by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his successful visit to Pakistan, a royal decree has been issued to release 2,107 prisoners from jails. On the request of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had ordered to release the 2,107 prisoners. Relatives of the prisoners have expressed their happiness on the release of their loved ones. As many as 11,803 Pakistanis are languishing in jails abroad. About 6,450 Pakistanis were jailed in the Gulf states between 2017-18. Of them, 2,937 Pakistanis are in Saudi jails. As many as 2,600 prisoners are in the jails of the United Arab Emirates, 657 in Oman, 128 in Bahrain, 54 in Qatar, 38 in Kuwait and three in Yemen. On the other hand, 500 Pakistanis are facing agony in Indian jails, 242 in China, 186 in Iran, 177 in Afghanistan and two in America. The Finance Ministry had demanded a fund of US$35,000 for the release of these prisoners last year. The Foreign Ministry had informed the Senate that thousands of Pakistanis are in jails of the Middle East.
