Rs 225b taxes will prove to be an earthquake of joblessness, inflation: Shehbaz Sharif

LAHORE (92 News) – Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has said that further taxes of Rs 225 billion will prove to be an earthquake of economic destruction, joblessness and inflation.

Criticizing the economic policies of the government, he said that the cotton price had reached the all-time high cost of Rs 15,500 per 40 kilograms. "The sun of inflation has dried the throats of the poor," he maintained.

He declared the legal amendments through the ordinance an attack on the parliament and the judiciary.

Shehbaz Sharif said that the government is inflicting a new worry on the people daily instead of relief. "Big legal amendments is not only no-confidence in the parliament but an undemocratic attitude as well. It is not only attack on the parliament but also an attack on the judiciary," he maintained.

He said that the black ordinance is a step towards stifling democracy and establishing one-man rule.

The PML-N president said that the opposition would not allow the government to snatch away the powers allocated to the institutions in the constitution. "Unwise rulers who agreed to the IMF conditions were forcing the people to commit suicide," he concluded.
