Rs1,241b Sindh budget presented, 5-10% increase in salaries of govt employees

KARACHI (92 News) – Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday presented the Rs 1,241 billion budget for the next fiscal year 2020-21. During the budget speech, he announced a 5-10 increase in the salaries of the government employees. “No new tax has been imposed in the budget. An amount of Rs58 billion will be deducted from the development budget,” he said. The chief minister said that an amount of Rs113 billion had been allocated for the Home Department. “The deficit has been estimated at Rs18 billion,” he added. He said that an amount of Rs139.1 billion has been allocated for the Health Department. “The volume of the development budget will be Rs23 billion. An amount of Rs23 billion has reserved for development, Rs 244.5 billion for education, Rs33.34 billion for development schemes, Rs1.93 billion for Karachi’s mega projects,” he maintained. The chief minister said that funds have been allocated for the ongoing projects. He demanded that a meeting should be called over the NFC Award. “We will not compromise on our principled stance on the 18th Amendment,” he said. The opposition staged a protest during the speech.
