ISLAMABAD (92 News) – PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari has said that the rulers are challenging democracy by arresting a speaker. Reacting to the arrest of Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani on Wednesday, he said that the rulers should have arrested him from Karachi if they wanted to arrest him. “Agha Siraj Durrani was not hiding. Jail is our second home and will see it as well,” he said. The PPP co-chairman said that they had given the government eight-month relaxation and would not give it more. “The country is passing through difficult times. We tried our best to let the government work,” he said. Asif Zardari said that they accept the verdict in the fake accounts case. “We have already accepted the court verdict. We want to strengthen institutions,” he added. About the visit of the Saudi crown prince, he said that the PPP welcomes the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. “However, the government mishandled the matter. Neither we nor Mian Sahib was invited to the visit. Later, it was tweeted that the opposition is unable to attend the ceremony. It is their will if they want to run the government this way,” he maintained. About hike in the prices of gas and electricity, he was of the view the bill will be so high in the next summer that people will pay it after selling their vehicles. PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto tweeted: “Enough is enough. We will not allow ‘benami’ prime minister to establish un-uniformed dictatorship.” He said that the attack on the speaker of the federal unit is unacceptable. “It is an undemocratic attempt to end the Sindh government,” he said. Bilawal Bhutto said that those who failed in the past will again fail.
