Rupee gains 26 paisa against dollar in interbank trading

ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Pakistani rupee on Thursday witnessed the 12th consecutive recovery session as it gained 26 paisa against the US dollar in the interbank trading and closed at Rs 281.93 against the previous day’s closing of Rs 282.19.

According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market stood at Rs 281.9 and Rs 284.4 respectively. The price of the Euro increased by Rs 1.87 to close at Rs 313.47 against the last day’s closing of Rs 311.60.

The Japanese Yen went up by 03 paisa and closed at Rs 2, whereas an increase of Rs 2.14 was witnessed in the exchange rate of the British Pound, which traded at Rs 361.40 compared to the last closing of Rs 359.26. The exchange rates of the Emirates dirham and the Saudi riyal decreased by 08 and 07 paisa to close at Rs 76.76 and Rs 75.17 respectively.

PSX gains 1,188 points

The 100-index of Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued with bullish trend, gaining 1,188.61 points, a positive change of 1.95 percent, closing at 62,052.24 points against 60,863.62 points the previous trading day.

A total of 676,243,466 shares valuing Rs20.278 billion were traded during the day as compared to 669,356,605 shares valuing Rs.16.115 billion the last day.

Gold rates up by Rs2,200 to Rs222,800 per tola

The per tola price of 24-karat gold increased by Rs2,200 and was sold at Rs 222,800 on Thursday compared to its sale at Rs.220,600 on last trading day. The price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold also increased by Rs1,886 to Rs191,015 from Rs189,129 whereas the prices of 10 grams 22-karat gold went up to Rs 175,097 from Rs173,368.

The price of per tola and ten gram silver remained unchanged at Rs2,680 and Rs2,297.66 respectively. The price of gold in the international market increased by US$20 to US$2,105 from US$2,085.
