Saaf Pani case: Qamarul Islam remanded in NAB custody until July 9

LAHORE (92 News) – An accountability court granted Qamarul Islam in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) until July 9. The NAB had sought the 15-day remand of the accused. Earlier, the NAB had arrested PML-N candidate Qamarul Islam in the Saaf Pani Company scam from Rawalpindi. Later, he was shifted to Lahore. Qamarul Islam is the PML-N candidate against Ch Nisar in NA-59. The NAB Lahore had also arrested Saaf Pani Company CEO Waseem Ajmal. Meanwhile, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that the arrest of Qamarul Islam is pre-poll rigging. The NAB spokesperson said that Qamarul Islam had been arrested in the corruption of over Rs one billion. On the other hand, Ch Nisar has condemned the arrest of Qamarul Islam. He said that such steps could make the elections controversial.
