Sacrifices by resilient people, brave security forces will not go waste: COAS

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa presided over the Corps Commanders' Conference at GHQ on Thursday. The forum reviewed geo-strategic and security environment with special focus on internal situation, Pak-Afghan border situation and Indian ceasefire violations (CFVs) along the Line of Control (LOC) and working boundary (WB). The COAS also apprised the participants about his visits to UAE and Qatri leadership which remained successful in making positive progress. The forum appreciated performance of security forces, including police, intelligence and other law enforcement agencies (LEAs) for effective response to recent terrorist incidents and security arrangements for PSL final at Lahore. The forum discussed Operation Raddul Fasaad (RuF) in details. The COAS said that Raddul Fasaad is a comprehensive and across the board operation against terrorists and terrorism at not against any particular race, sect or group. The forum also acknowledged participation and support by PAF and Pakistan Navy in ongoing operations. Progress on the National Action Plan (NAP) was also discussed. It concluded that through Operation Raddul Fasaad implementation of NAP needs to be expedited jointly / by respective stakeholders for lasting peace and stability in the country. The COAS also informed the participants about discussion during last security conference with government authorities, which included phased fencing of Pak-Afghan Border, repatriation of Afghan refugees, judicial, police and ‘madrassa’ and educational institution reforms and restarting execution of death sentences to terrorists awarded by military courts. The forum expressed its confidence in the performance of military courts. However, decision for reinstatement of military rests courts with the government. It also discussed the NewsLeaks issue. The conference also reviewed Pakistan Army's support in conducting 611 Housing and Population Census 2017. The COAS said that Army will undertake this task as a national service. “Sacrifices made by resilient people of Pakistan and its brave security forces will not go waste, Inshallah,” he vowed. The conference concluded that hostile agencies are trying to undo Pakistan's gains in security and development, especially the CPEC, pledging that hostile agencies’ design will be defeated through whole of the nation approach. It reiterated resolve Pak Army to play its due role towards defence and security of the motherland.
