Salman Shah appointed as new adviser to Punjab CM
LAHORE (92 News) – The Punjab government on Wednesday appointed Dr Salman Shah as the new adviser to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on economic affairs and planning.
Salman Shah’s appointment comes after the resignation of Akram Chaudhry who also excused himself from taking the post of the Food Authority chairman.
A notification for Salman Shah’s appointment has been issued and the economist has been directed by the Punjab chief minister to assume responsibilities immediately.
Dr Salman Shah served as an adviser to prime minister Shaukat Aziz in 2004-08 with the status of federal minister during the Musharraf regime.
His appointment follows that of Abdul Hazeez Sheikh as Prime Minister Imran Khan’s adviser on finance after Asad Umar stepped down as finance minister.

Akram Chaudhry stepped down after the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) asked the five advisers that if anyone of them would voluntarily resign so that an economist could be inducted in the provincial cabinet to look after Punjab’s financial affairs.
The chief minister could have only five advisers as per the Supreme Court’s verdict.
