KARACHI (92 News) – A forensic report on Wednesday revealed that the weapon used in the murder of former Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Ali Raza Abidi had been used before in the killing of a man named Ehtisham in Liaquatabad on December 10 on Wednesday As per details garnered, a forensic examination of the bullet shells recovered from the crime scene revealed that the same 30-bore pistol was used in the killing of man named Ehtisham in Liaquatabad area of the city. The man named Ehtisham was killed over some minor dispute in Liaquatabad area and police had registered the case in the area police station. According to the investigation officer, there were pistols in both hands of the suspect and they were both used in Abidi’s murder. The officer also said that only one bullet was fired from one of the pistols and that is the one which was also used in Ehtisham’s murder. He added that the other pistol has not yet been matched to any other murder. The police took Abidi’s guard into custody for investigations. SSP Pir Muhammad Shah said that Abidi’s guard, Qadeer, has been taken into custody. The guard instead of immediately retaliating to the fire, went inside the house and asked Abidi’s father for a weapon to respond to the suspects’ firing. It was also reported that Abidi had reached home from his factory earlier than usual when he was attacked. It also added that Abidi had returned home earlier than his routine time as he had to take his family for dinner. Earlier, CM Sindh also chaired a meeting of law enforcement agencies and ordered immediate arrest of Ali Raza Abidi’s killers. DIG South, while briefing the CM Sindh said that the CCTV footage is being examined while the five bullet shells recovered from the crime scene have been sent for forensic examination. The police officer assured the chief minister that the assassins will be arrested as police have some major clues to help it in investigation. IG Sindh Syed Kaleem Imam informed the CM that Abidi’s cellphone is being decoded for further investigation. On Tuesday night, Abidi was shot outside his residence in Khayaban-e-Ghazi neighbourhood of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Tuesday night. Unidentified assailants shot the former MNA as soon as he disembarked from his vehicle outside his residence. Abidi was shifted to PNS Shifa Hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his wounds.
