Samjhauta Express case: Indian court acquits all Hindu extremists

NEW DELHI (92 News) – A Panchkula special court on Wednesday acquitted all Hindu extremists involved in two blasts carried out in the Samjhauta Express, said reports. Meanwhile, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal has condemned the acquittal of the accused of the Samjhauta Express case. “What answer will we give to the relatives of 42 Pakistani martyrs?” He said that the FO is collecting information and a statement will be issued shortly. On February 18, 2007, two bombs exploded on board a train bound from India to Pakistan, sparking a fire that killed at least 68 passengers. A majority of the victims were Pakistanis. Investigators had concluded that terrorists had used improved explosive devices and inflammable substances for the blasts and the fire in two coaches of the train near Panipat in Haryana. Two unexploded suitcase bombs were also found on the train. Inside one, an electronic timer encased in clear plastic was packed next to more than a dozen plastic bottles containing a cocktail of fuel oils and chemicals.
