ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Lt Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa has decided to resign as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting. However, he will continue to work as Chairman China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority. Lt Gen (retd) Asif Saleem Bajwa said that he would present his resignation to Prime Minister Imran Khan. Earlier reacting to a story published by an unknown website, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Asim Saleem Bajwa has strongly rebutted allegations against him and his family, terming them baseless and unfounded. In a tweet on Thursday, he said: "I strongly rebut the baseless allegations levelled against me and my family. Alhamdolillah another attempt to damage our reputation belied/exposed. I have and will always serve Pakistan with pride and dignity." https://twitter.com/AsimSBajwa/status/1301528438633902082?s=20 He said that his wife had no investment in the business of his brother when he declared his assets as special assistant to PM on June 22, 2020. "My wife had withdrawn all investment on June 1, 2020. All the facts are part of the official US record," he clarified. Asim Saleem Bajwa said that he strongly reject the news published by journalist Ahmed Noorani on August 27, 2020. "All the points in the second paragraph of the news are incorrect," he added. He said that the official proceedings were carried out after ending business interest in the US. "A process to change the company name was completed in the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP)," he maintained. Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Asim Saleem Bajwa said that he has five brothers and two of them are doctors. "One of them served as vice-president of a US bank, while another is a controller in a restaurant operating company. The last one was a partner in a restaurant chain," he clarified.
