Sardar Akbar Dogar elected LHCBA president, Rai Usman secretary

LAHORE (92 News) – Sardar Akbar Dogar was elected as president of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Saturday.

He bagged 6,581 votes, while his rival Rana Asadullah Khan got 3,976 votes. Sohail Shafique Chaudhary was elected the vice-president with 4,743.

Meanwhile, Rai Usman has been elected as secretary with 4,455 votes. Rana Akhtar Ali was elected the finance secretary with 4,103.

Supporters of the winners chanted slogans in favour of their candidates after the results announced by Election Board Chairman Mian Irfan Akram.

Talking to the media, the newly-elected LHC president Sardar Akbar Dogar said that he would continue his role for the supremacy of the law and the constitution. "I thank the lawyers' community for expressing their trust in me. The role of lawyers for promotion of democratic norms has always been positive," he declared.
