Sartaj Aziz, EU Representative Franz Mellbin discuss Afghan peace process

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz called on European Union (EU) Special Representative on Afghanistan Franz Michael Mellbin in Islamabad on Monday. According to Foreign Office spokesman, the meeting discussed the security and peace situation in Afghanistan. The adviser briefed Mellbin on Pakistan's recent achievements in counter-terrorism and economic growth. Sartaj said that Pakistan looks forward to meaningful engagement with Afghanistan in addressing the challenge of terrorism. Mellbin expressed confidence that the international community would stand by its commitment made during the Brussels Conference for continued assistance towards Afghan peace, reconstruction and development. Both sides agreed on the need for sustained efforts towards Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process.
