Saudi, UAE FMs assure COAS for full support over Kashmir situation

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Saudi Minister for Foreign Affairs Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir and UAE Foreign Minister of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan assured of their full support to resolve the situation created by India’s unilateral steps in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK). According to the Inter-Public Service Relation (ISPR), both the dignitaries held meetings with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at Rawalpindi on Thursday. During the meeting, the matters of mutual interest including growing bilateral ties and security situation in the region were discussed. The army chief has highlighted that Pakistan is proud of its special strategic and brotherly relationship with Saudi Arabia and UAE. On the occasion, the visiting dignitaries appreciated Pakistan’s role for peace and stability in the region and assured of their full support to resolve the situation created by India’s unilateral steps in Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir. A day earlier, Saudi and UAE foreign ministers held meetings with Prime Minster Imran Khan and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood. They assured full support to Pakistan over the Kashmir issue. According to a press release, the main focus of the meetings was on the situation arising from India’s illegal and unilateral actions in Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IOJ&K). The prime minister highlighted Pakistan’s deep concern over the worsening human rights and humanitarian situation in IOJ&K because of the month-long complete lockdown and communications blackout in the occupied territory. The prime minister stressed the importance of immediate lifting of curfew, removal of restrictions on movement and communications, and respect for the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people. Prime Minister Imran Khan further underscored that India’s actions were a clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions and international law. “There was a genuine fear of a false flag operation to divert the world’s attention from India’s illegal actions and intensified repression of Kashmiris. India’s actions had created grave risks for peace and security in the region. The international community had the responsibility to urge India to halt and reverse its illegal actions and aggressive policies and postures.” The prime minister added that Saudi Arabia and UAE had an important role in this regard.
