SC adjourns case pertaining to civilians’ trial in military courts sine die

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - A seven-member bench of the Supreme Court on Thursday adjourned the case pertaining to the trial of civilians in military courts for an indefinite period.

During the hearing, Justice Irfan Saadat ordered Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan not to mete out inhuman treatment to human beings.

Justice Jamal Mandokhel observed that the matter was over if the investigation had been completed. “Why are the accused in judicial custody?”

Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar remarked that the court was earlier told a meeting of the accused with their families was arranged each week. “Why do you not continue this practice?”

Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan ensured court that accused’s meetings with their families would be arranged from today.

The next hearing will be held on the availability of the seven-member bench.
