SC changes Diamer Basha, Mohmand Dam Fund name

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday allowed to change the Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund name. As per details, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar granted a request to rename the fund set up by the SC for the construction of dams in Pakistan. The apex court Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund renamed as “Supreme Court/PM Dam Fund.” During the hearing, the CJ remarked that Prime Minister Imran Khan had sought his permission to rename the fund. “The PM said he wanted to join the fund,” CJ Nisar added. The chief justice also remarked that the court didn’t have any objection to the PM changing the fund’s name, but the fund should be collected as name does not matter. In the hearing, the federal law officer said that changing the name of the fund could cause certain problems such as its name would have to be changed in all advertisements. To reply, Justice Ijazul Ahsan instructed the fund name in the advertisements which had already been placed should stay the same, while the new ones should have the new name. Earlier, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) had moved an application seeking renaming of the fund.
