SC declares appointment of PIA CEO Musharraf as null & void

KARACHI (92 News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) on Monday declared the appointment of Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Musharraf Rasool Cyan as null and void. A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, heard the case concerning the proposed privatisation of the PIA and announced a short verdict. The bench nullified the appointment of Musharraf Rasool, saying that It  was illegal. The verdict stated that Musharraf as PIA CEO was not eligible for this post and his appointment was illegal. During the hearing, the CJP remarked that Musharraf has served as PSO of Sardar Mehtab. Justice Ijazul Hassan remarked that the issue in this case is that proper rules and regulations were not followed while appointing the CEO. The audit authorities sought reply from the PIA administrations over the objections till September 11 and informed that after getting answers from the PIA on the objections, they would submit the audit report in the court. The detailed verdict in the case will be issued later. Later the apex court adjourned the case
