SC directs to complete Orange Line Metro Train project till May 20

LAHORE (92 News) – The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday gave deadline to complete the Orange Metro Train project till May 20. A two member bench comprising comprising Justice Gulzar Ahmad and Justice Ijazul Ahsan heard the case. During the hearing, Justice Gulzar Ahmed expressed anger on Orange Line Metro Train project Director Fazal Haleem. During the course of proceedings, the bench sought guarantees of ten million rupees each from the three construction companies. It said that the guarantees will be seized if the construction work on the project was not completed till 20th of next month. Justice Gulzar also remarked that if the contractor will not work put them into jail. However, the top court has adjourned the hearing of Orange Line Metro Train Case for two weeks.
Not closing Orange Line project, announces Aleem Khan
Punjab Minister for Local Government and Community Development has announced that the government is not closing the Orange Line project.

Talking to the media on Wednesday, he said that billions of rupees of the poor people had been spent on the project. “The King has departed, but left us in trapped in loans,” he said.

Orange Line project is a gift for Lahorites, remarks CJP
Earlier, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has remarked that the Orange Line project is a gift for Lahorites.

While hearing the Orange Line case, he said: “Inform me on the completion of the train and I will also get on it.” The CJP directed the government to complete the project on time and there will be no lenience in this regard. The construction companies presented an Rs one billion agreement of the bank guarantee to court.

Hearing the railway deficit case, the CJP questioned why Khawaja Sahib comes to court when they do not call him. He remarked that they had sought a reply from the Auditor General and he should inform him on the next hearing. The court adjourned the case till Saturday. Meanwhile, the NAB officials had brought PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique to court.
