SC dismisses curative review reference against CJP-designate Qazi Faez Isa on govt's plea for withdrawal

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday dismissed the curative review reference against CJP-designate Qazi Faez Isa after the government sought its withdrawal through a petition.

On April 10, Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial had reserved the verdict on the government petition which sought the withdrawal of the curative review reference filed by the former government against Justice Qazi Faez Isa.

On the orders of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government had filed an appeal seeking withdrawal of the curative review petition against a court order that accepted the review petitions challenging the court’s June 19, 2020, judgment on the presidential reference against Justice Qazi Faez Isa in which the court had empowered the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to conduct an inquiry into the assets of the judge’s family.
