SC dismisses WAPDA plea against claims of Tarbela Dam affectees

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan has dismissed the plea of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) against the claims of the affectees of Tarbela Dam after the plea was withdrawn.

A three-member bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial heard the case.

However, the court upheld the High Court verdict regarding compensation and alternate land for the affectees.

During the hearing, the acting chief justice questioned how much land is required to compensate the affectees. The WAPDA counsel told court that 5,000 acres of land is need to compensate the affectees.

The court ruled that the WAPDA should find out a way out and compensate the 206 affectees.
