SC expresses dissatisfaction at PTI’s documents, adjourns hearing till Nov 17

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court has on Tuesday expressed dissatisfaction with the documental evidence of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Panama leaks case. The apex court adjourned the Panama Case hearing till November 17 (Thursday). A five-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali resumed hearing of the case. During the proceedings, the applicant Tariq Asad Advocate requested the court to complete the trial as soon as possible. CJP Anwar Zaheer Jamali remarked that the court would not do injustice with anyone. He said that it is not the work of the top court to hear corruption cases, adding that the wok will not complete in 20 year if they started investigation of 800 people. “The documents have been submitted and next phase is to form a commission,” the CJP added. The lawyer of PTI chairman Imran Khan and bench members exchanged interesting sentences during the proceedings. Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh said that PTI Counsel had submitted the 6625 documents yesterday which does not have link with the case, adding that why is there time being wasted on Alif Laila stories. He asked whether anyone could be executed on the basis of a news story. The counsels of the Prime Minister and his children submitted before the court the documents in support of their concise statements furnished before the apex court in the last hearing. The court in its order said the copies of the documents should be exchanged with the parties for examination and review. Akram Sheikh, the counsel of Prime Minister's children presented before the court the supplementary concise statement of Maryam Nawaz.   MEDIA TALK OUTSIDE SUPREME COURT Talking to media outside Supreme Court after Panama Leaks Case proceedings, Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid said that they have submitted evidence in the Supreme Court, due to which attacks are being carried out on the Line of Control (LoC) and shrines. On the other hand, reacting to the AML chief’s statement, Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq said that Sheikh Rashid is always search for borrowed public meetings.  "Unfortunately our opponents are doing politics of lie and allegations," he said. The minister said that they are creating hurdles in the way of development of the country. He said PML(N) government will continue to work for the development and prosperity of the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Akram Sheikh, the counsel of Prime Minister's children said that they have been accused of using delaying tactics but the lawyers of PTI chairman Imran Khan have asked for more time. Meanwhile, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif while expressing complete trust in Supreme Court said that the prime minister has presented himself for accountability in every forum including Parliament and Judiciary. He said: “Proceedings are going in the Apex Court in Panama Papers case and parties are presenting documents in their defense.” To a question, he said it is work of the Supreme Court to decide about credibility of the evidence.
