SC fixes hearing on NAB’s appeal to put Shehbaz Sharif’s name on ECL

LAHORE (92 News) – The Supreme Court has fixed the hearing on National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) appeal to put Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif’s name on exit control list (ECL).

The top court's Justice Mushir Alam will head the bench that will hear the appeal on October 27.

The federal government had put Shehbaz Sharif on the ECL earlier this month but his name was removed on the Lahore High Court’s (LHC) order. The anti-corruption watchdog had challenged the LHC’s verdict in the top court.

The PML-N president has been accused of transferring billions of rupees abroad illegally through benami accounts and making assets worth billions using frontmen, servants and money changers.

Shehbaz is currently at Lahore’s Lakhpat jail on judicial remand in the money laundering case.

He was arrested on September 28. NAB has accused him of laundering money and owning more assets than his known sources of income could account for.
