SC to form single member bench to probe Panama Papers

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – A single member bench of the Supreme Court will be constituted for investigation into Panama leaks. The larger five-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and comprising Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Amir Hani Muslim, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijazul Ahsan conduct the hearing over Panama leaks. During the proceedings, the decided to form a single-member commission to investigate the Panama Papers after reviewing replies of all parties. The Chief Justice said that commission would be headed a sitting judge of the top court and would have all the powers of the apex court. Anwar Zaheer Jamali said that the court will not drag proceedings of the case. He made it clear that the court will not be bound to the terms of reference of the parties rather it will be for the bench to fix the terms of reference for the commission. Earlier, the counsel of the government, Salman Butt presented before the court the reply of the Prime Minister.
