October 16, 2018
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court has constituted a committee headed by the secretary interior to evolve a mechanism for regularization of constructions at Bani Gala in Islamabad. A three member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard a case regarding encroachments and environmental degradation in Bani Gala. The court directed the committee to complete the work in ten days time. During the hearing, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar remarked that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence will be the first to be regularised. “The prime minister should pay fine on the first number and regularized his Bani Gala’s residence,” CJ said. “After people know that the prime minister has paid penalty, then they will be asked to regularise their properties,” he added. Further, the chief justice said, “We will not grant permission for construction of new properties till the regularisation issue is sorted.” The committee will include Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman and secretaries of the ministries of housing, local government and climate change and will submit its report in 10 days. The hearing of the case was then adjourned till October 29.
