ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Supreme Court on Tuesday gave journalists time to appear before the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) until after the February 8 elections.
Hearing the suo motu notice case into harassment of journalists, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa questioned who was running the country of a minister is helpless. Jahangir Jadoon, counsel for a journalist, replied that everybody knows about it.
The chief justice ordered the counsels not to make such remarks as it was a court, not a wrestling arena. "We did not pass any order yesterday while remaining cautious. No one is ready to do his work. We proceed with the petition and journalists withdraw from it. Please show us any paper so that we may move ahead," he observed.
However, the court allowed the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) to become a party in the case.
The court adjourned the hearing until the first week of March.
