SC grants right of vote to overseas Pakistanis
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan has granted the right of vote to overseas Pakistanis.
A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar passed the order while hearing a suo motu case regarding the participation of overseas Pakistanis in the upcoming by-polls.
During the proceedings, the Chief Justice directed the Election Commission of Pakistan to make fool proof arrangements to enable overseas Pakistanis to cast their votes in the by-polls.
He said that the results of I-voting for overseas Pakistanis should be made part of the by-poll process. Welcoming the development, spokesman of PTI Fawad Chaudhary has said that the long struggle of party Chairman Imran Khan for grant of right of vote to overseas Pakistanis has succeeded.
In a tweet, he said the court has laid down a procedure for right of vote for them.
