ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Supreme Court (SC) has issued written verdict in Faisal Vawda disqualification case.
Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial issued a four-page decision. In the decision, it stated that Faisal Vawda admitted his misleading statement. “He was not qualified to become the member parliamentarian in 2018. Article 63 (1) (c) of the Constitution of Pakistan applies after Faisal Vawda admitted his guilt. He will be considered ineligible for the term of the current assembly, while he will be eligible to contest the next elections.”
The court order further stated that Faisal Vawda's resignation from the Senate seat should be sent immediately to the Senate Chairman. The Election Commission has no authority to disqualify the candidate before the election.
