KARACHI (92 News) – The Supreme Court on Friday ordered the federal and Sindh government to prepare a comprehensive plan for Karachi. A three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed and comprising Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, passed the orders while hearing a case pertaining to encroachments in the city at the Supreme Court's Karachi Registry. The court also ordered to demolish the illegal buildings in Punjab Colony, Delhi Colony, PNT and Gizri Road. CJP Gulzar Ahmed ordered the authorities concerned to demolish the skyscrapers and replace them with parks. “How were the nine-storey buildings constructed?. Who was allowing such construction in Cantonment Board?” he questioned. He remarked that the provincial and federal governments were not working and as a result, Karachi had become a mega problem city. The court also ordered to establish a park on the land of adjacent to Kala Bridge after removing huts within three months. Meanwhile, the Sindh Advocate General expressed lack of confidence with the provincial departments. He said that the relevant departments will continue to report all well.
